Sally Field is an American stage and screenwriter who has written for such diverse TV shows as M.A.S.H., Groundhog Day, Doonesbury, ER, Housefull and The Dead Zone. Early life. Sally Field was actually born to Richard Dryden Field, a US Army officer and Margaret Field, a comedienne in Pasadena, California. She studied at Portola Middle School in Watts, California and later at Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, California, where she participated in extracurricular activities.

Life goes on for Sally Field throughout the remainder of her life. She married Richard B. Collins, Jr. in 1947, and the two had two children. After the marriage, Sally Field continued to work hard at becoming a popular stand-up comedy writer, working with such notable figures as Joan Rivers and Dick Gregory. In her early years as an actress, Sally Field also gained a reputation as a playwright, having written numerous scripts for both Broadway and Hollywood. In her memoir, Sally Field discusses some of her early Broadway appearances, including her turn as “Fannie,” a stage name for Mary Tyler Moore, in a revival of All I Really Need, a revival of She Loves Me and as herself in the film adaptation of Moby Dick.

When it comes to television, Sally Field is best known for her starring role as Sister Maria in the popular sitcom The Sister’s Dozen. She played the role of a deaf and blind nun who was sent to a reformatory after confessing her love for her dead boyfriend, Frank. Throughout the show, Sally Field displayed a range of strong vocal skills and an ability to deliver comic one liners that made her a memorable character. She is also responsible for bringing the character of Sister Maria into the world on television, as well as her infamous line, “I cannot hear, what I hear is only what I can see.”

Sally Field also had a varied career as an actor and singer. Her singing career, which spanned four decades, included such notable records as Back in Black (with Larry and Lorrie Collins), Take It Easy (with Dottie Skye), and Purple Haze (with Goldie Hawn). For those of us who were lucky enough to attend Sally Field’s acceptance speech for the 2021 Academy Awards, the speech did not make any particular impact. Although Sally Field did receive a standing ovation from the audience for performing an encore presentation of her song, All I Really Need Is Your Love, the overall message was not one that will make you sit up and take notice. Many of the audience members who stood for Sally Field’s acceptance speech also left the event angry and disappointed that she failed to bring home the trophy that year. Some of these individuals felt that the award show hosts, Jimmy Fallon and Oprah Winfrey, did not sufficiently recognize Sally Field’s contributions to the entertainment world.

Sally Field’s career has spanned parts of two decades. Prior to working on the Broadway stage, she also had a lengthy stint on the television screen, playing the role of FBI agent Dana Scully in the TV series X Files. Critic’s circle award for best actress goes to Rescue Me, which was written by Paul Strong. In the movie, Field plays a young girl who is chosen as an FBI agent to go on a dangerous mission under the orders of FBI Director Robert Kennedy. This role earned Sally Field a second Golden Globe nomination, this time for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
