Margaret Cho has also appeared in several other award-winning films and TV shows. Her first major role was in Kung Fu Panda. She later appeared in Disney’s Lion King, Bridget Jones Diary, and American Idol, to name a few. In the television series Outsourced, Cho played the wife of a Chinese businesswoman who was thrown out of a plane in San Francisco after speaking Chinese for the first time.

Margaret Cho has also been nominated for several awards for her comedy series Odditor. Odditor was one of the most popular shows in Korea and Japan until it was canceled by Korean television shows in 2021. The show’s cancellation was blamed on plagiarism charges brought about against Cho by one of its writers, Park Hae Sik. The charges were later dropped. However, Cho is not completely out of the picture as several Korean and Japanese television series have been set up in its place. It should be interesting to see how Odditor evolves into a new series or what direction it heads towards next.

Margaret Cho is not the only popular comedy actor to have a run-in with the law. Mike Myers was arrested for assault after an argument with a female manager at a nightclub. He plead no contest to the charges but was sentenced to jail time. Later, he appeared in a series of shows in which he rapped about the incident, making fun of the police, and stating that he would not go to jail.

Margaret Cho is a good example of a comic who has found themselves in hot water, but then emerged as a greater person after the incident. It is rare that we hear stories of comedians who end up in legal trouble after being accused of something they may have done while making fun of someone else or in a comical way. Most stand-up comedians end up doing some jail time, if not served time, because of their offensive acts and words. For those who are critical of the police after an incident such as Cho’s, it is important to remember that the police were initially called because of the noise of the altercation. If it were not for the police, someone else might have been hurt or may have had an opportunity to present their argument to the courts, and then Cho would still be in jail for up to 12 months.
