She was a talented actress whose career spanned four decades. She appeared in such films as Rosemary Clooney’s My Fair Lady, Bruce Almighty, Patton, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, A Few Good Men, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

When World War II broke out, Beverly Aadland avoided returning to England because she believed that it would be safer. Instead, she decided to seek refuge in Los Angeles with her friend, writer, and traveling companion, Edith Hunter. Together they made their way to France and Switzerland. While there, they encountered such notable figures as King George VI, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin, who had become suspicious of the Allied effort to conquer Germany.

After the war, Beverly Aadland continued to work hard, playing the same roles in such movies as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Patton, for which she received three Academy Awards. After several years away from acting, Beverly Aadland was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her role as the headstrong mother in The Stepford Wives. She would go on to play the same role in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Doggy Poopie, and the award-winning adaptation of Don’t Take Me Alive. By the end of the seventies, Beverly was one of the biggest celebrities in Hollywood, known for her glamorous hairstyles and sunglasses. She also enjoyed a lengthy career as a singer, actress, and writer.

Following the end of World War II, Beverly went on to play many different characters in more than twenty films, many of which were directed by her long-time friend, Clint Eastwood. Her most memorable role was, of course, as the ruthless Havana Nightingale in the crime thriller, Easy Rider. However, it was her starring role in Apollo 13 that catapulted her to worldwide fame. In Apollo 13, she plays lunar Mission Control Mission SpecialistEVA. Although her character is completely female (as opposed to her more famous colleagues who are men), it is clear to see that this was not simply a role-play for the director or the studio. Beverly Aadland truly was one of the most beloved leading ladies of all time, and her extensive body of work – which spanned over four decades – proves just that.
