Anandhi or Anandhi is a Tamil movie star who first appeared in Tamil cinema during the early 1990s. After her first major role in the Telugu movie Manaytan Kairi (The Robot) she went on to appear in many more movies in Tamil. Anandhi hails from Chennai in the Southern part of India and is married to an American citizen. She began her career after appearing in some small films made by National Geographic and she has gone on to appear in some Hollywood movies as well. Her most recent film Anandhi was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and has a lot of corporate India elements to it. The film has been receiving good reviews in the movie halls with its positive message of unity and love. Director Bhansali wanted the Tamil film to have a very strong dose of patriotism and this he succeeded in achieving with his story and the characters. There are positive reviews for the movie from all over the world and not just from the viewers Anandhi has already become a box office hit.

Anandhi is set in the rural setting and is about a young girl who gets married and bears a son named Ram. Anandhi was shot in Chennai by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who has received good praises for his directing skills. There are several scenes which have received positive reviews from film critics but one scene in particular that received a lot of criticism from film critics were the scenes where the main female character Anandhi is seen urinating on a bus stop posting which is something that many people from India would find disgusting. Many people believe that the scene was something that was inserted to spice up the movie and it was not intended to be a major plot point. However the producers of Anandhi had enough faith in their film and decided to remove the scene in the final cut.

There is a rumor that Anandhi will be receiving some sort of an award at the Venice Film Festival (VFI) at some point in the year but until then we will have to wait and see what happens to this popular Telugu comedy film. Another rumor is that Anandhi may actually receive an award for best actress at the upcoming MTV Asia Film Festival (TIFF). There is also a rumor that Adeel Chowdhry, who is the main actor playing the role of Ram, is set to receive an award for his performance. Most of these rumors are just that, however we will have to wait and see what exactly the award is called before we can confirm or deny it.

Anandhi opens on a downward slope as the lead character of the film, a married man named Ram Manohar arrives in Mumbai to look for his daughter who has been suddenly taken away by her husband. On his way, he also runs into another married man named Naveen Kaushik who tries to seduce him. The two marry and run away with the girl. Ram is then forced to marry a woman named Katrina whose brother-in-law Jai goes out with while he and Ram get along just fine.

Anandhi has received decent reviews by Indian Cinema directors and critics. Though it does receive mixed reviews it has managed to become one of the most talked about Tamil movies in India and even throughout the world. Ram is played by Anandhi, the name of a very famous Telugu actress by the same name. Though the plot of Anandhi is based on marital rape, it does not follow this too strictly and is more of a coming of age story. Overall it is a decent movie that does not over exaggerate things and gives us a small glimpse of what marital rape is all about.
