When one looks at the early social media pages of Rochelle Aytes, it is a lot like looking at some of the most popular pages from her former days. Aytes posted pictures to her Instagram account which are similar to the pictures that one can find on the pages of her New York Times Magazine cover and New Yorker profile. It seems as though Aytes likes to share the good life and the struggles of not having money to purchase what she wants to buy.

Aytes recently launched a book titled Rochelle aytes4real. One can clearly see similarities between the two books. Both books are focused on women and their experiences in their lives and both focus on material wealth. The book that was released by Rochelle aytes4real is about overcoming substance abuse and addiction while the New York Times book is about beginning an adventure and living life to the fullest. However, when you read the words of this author herself you will know that this isn’t your grandmother’s life.

Rochelle Aytes grew up in the projects in southwest Louisiana, where poverty is a daily struggle for the members of her family. She was a member of the Cajun people and grew up helping them as they constructed rice fields and homes for their children. She attended Harrow Community College for two years and worked at a printing press for a company that made post cards and calendars for schools and churches. In her free time she also did community development work, baked pies and enjoyed her love of food and baking. When Rochelle Aytes decided to launch her blog and sell it for proceeds at a rate much lower than typical blogging pay rates, people from all over the United States came to read what she had to say about life in the Cajun communities.

This past August, she was featured in the New York Times Magazine’s “Panel of Success” along with jazz singer-songwriter albums artistes-actor-teacher-author Mrs. Alice Fayeume. While this is definitely an industry that you don’t necessarily expect to find working with young adults, Aytes still managed to make quite a name for herself in the New York arts scene. The bio on the New York Times website describes her as “a rising fine arts star who sells stylish and eclectic jewelry.”

So what are you waiting for? Check out Rochelle Aytes’ Instagram page and see for yourself the beautiful and passionate mother and daughter both have to face everyday. I think it’s safe to say that Aytes has captured the hearts of many people with her Instagram page and we can only hope that she continues to reach her dreams of financial freedom. Her bio on the New York Times site says that she’s “spending the last years of her life in the Harlem apartments where she teaches piano and drawing.”
