After receiving critical acclaim for her performances on both of the aforementioned shows, Erika Alexander received further recognition when she was nominated for Golden Globe Awards for playing the first black character to ever win the award (for Best Actress in a Drama La Costiera). After the award show, she began playing a series of different characters on various television series, such as Entourage and Eureka. She also appeared on numerous movies, including a role in the biopic Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure as Ted, as well as Love, Mama, Kiss and finally Lemonade Tycoon. In addition, Erika has also played characters in the feature films Bridesmaids, Edward Scissorhands, Men in Black 3, Take Me Two, and Swing Vote. She also voiced roles in several animated films, such as Shrek and Madagascar, as well as the video game Kung Fu Panda.
Erika Alexander has also been known to enjoy herself, playing various characters in films, such as Pretty Woman and Gidget. However, it wasn’t until she guest-starred on The Mentalist that she really garnered attention from both the public and the media. After filming the sixth season, Erika received positive reviews from both critics and viewers. Shortly after the show ended, producers approached her to participate in a series of post-production spin-offs based around the characters she had previously appeared in. She began by playing the same character, but in this series, she received a different spin, which significantly affected her popularity.
In addition to her appearances on Erika Alexander, Erika became a popular figure on her own sitcom, Theicks. The comedy, created by Greg Garcia, was a spin off of the popular Phil Esposito and John Bon Jovi sitcom, Family Guy. Erika’s character, played by actress Candace Capra, was an out-and-out mean girl, who worked at a law firm in Philadelphia, where she was also a big fan of the show. The sitcom became popular with both male and female viewers and was even picked up for a second season on Adult Swim.
In the lead-up to the fourth season of Theicks, Erika received a brief cameo as herself in an episode, playing the crazed mother of a boy killed in a car crash. Although many people thought the cameo was meant to be a joke, the actress’ performance quickly gained popularity. Her character’s lunatic rage soon caught on, and hundreds of fans showed up in the streets of New York to support her. Erika quickly became a favorite on her own show, Theicks, as well as being a long-time guest star on The Carol Burnett Show. In all, Erika appeared on more than 25 different shows over the course of her famous career. Her name remains synonymous with havoc on television.
