One of Carol Burnett’s most famous lines in her many film and TV appearances has to be her response to a reporter’s question about the status of her personal relationship with Harvey Keffer. According to Carol Burnett, the reporters had told people that they would be seeing a married Keffer by the end of the year. Carol Burnett confidently stated that it would not happen and repeatedly asked the reporter to name one other actor who was married. Carol Burnett saved her famous quote for when the reporter finally announced their meeting. When the reporter announced that Harvey Keffer was married, Carol Burnett said, “So, it is finally over. Who cares what other people think, Carol Burnett thinks it is great!”
In a similar fashion, Carol Burnett’s grandmother, Rita Harville, told people in an interview that she never thought her own daughter-in-law, Carol Burnett, would end up being a character in a movie, or a TV show, for that matter. According to Harville, Carol Burnett had told people that she was not going to be a part of anything related to Harville. Harville explained that in order for her to enjoy what life had to offer, she needed to keep busy, and keep learning. Carol Burnett then told people that she was not going to be an actress, not a singer, nor a writer. Instead, Carol Burnett was going to be a grandmother.
Not long after Carol Burnett became a grandmother, she was spotted on a plane with her grandchild, Eunice Coleman. What is it about the sight of a woman carrying a baby in her arms, that makes people want to stop and have a closer look? It is difficult not to notice the face of a child who is wearing a mother’s face. From this vantage point, one can also see a woman who looks much like her mother. After seeing this sight, it becomes easier to picture what it must have been like for Carol Burnett’s mother to give birth to this young boy
After Carol Burnett became a grandmother, the world noticed her and she was cast in numerous movies and TV shows. This led to many more roles and appearances on different TV shows. Throughout her career as an actor and actress, Carol Burnett has maintained her relationships with both her children David Lee Roth and his son Brody, and her former nanny, Eunice Coleman. As a result of being associated with such important people in her life, Carol Burnett has always remained close to her family. In fact, she even appeared at the funeral of Brody during the tributes.
