Yang Lina, better known as Lina Yang, is a Singaporean singer and actor whose notable credits include dramas like An Ode To Life and Samsui Women. She died of lung cancer at her home in Singapore on 20 March 2010, aged 47. She was widely a full-time Mediacorp actor from 1983 to the present.

Lina Yang was born in June 1994. She became popular when she was cast as Cheerleader Barbie in the movie Barbie: Princess and the Pauper. She then went on to play the same role in the second installment of the film, Barbie A Fashion Fairy, playing the role of Daniella.

Lina Yang grew up in Singapore as the daughter of a Chinese textile trader. Her early years were spent studying theater at college in Kanyakumari, Singapore, as well as local acting schools in the cities of Peranakan and Clarke Quay. She later attended the Beijing Oriental University for two years before becoming a professional actress. Yang also studied piano and design in college.

Yang is one of five children of Zhen Tianxia, a Chinese international film director. Born in Huaihai, China, Yang was named Yang Lina after her mother’s maiden name, Lina Joy. According to some biographies, she was actually a nickname of Yang Likia, another Chinese character which means “joy”.

Yang Lina did not start as an actress until the third season of the Singapore television show “Laguna Beach”, a role that catapulted her to worldwide fame. After that, Yang Lina appeared in a number of films, including action movies, musicals, and animated films. She is best known for her role as a football player in the 1987 movie Kung Mangai. Yang Lina also had a role in the Japanese film The Mask, and went on to star in a number of Singapore television series, most notably Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Dinner at the King’s Castle, andender’s Island. Yang Lina is best known for her role as the young Victoria in the movie Pretty Woman, opposite Michael Douglas.

Yang Lina was a popular tennis player throughout her childhood and teen years, playing for both the Republic of Singapore and Malaysia. In fact, she is one of the few ever to represent both the East and West. Born in 1998, Yang Lina is one of two children of Zhen Tianxia, who was a famous Chinese international tennis player. As a child, Yang Lina became known to the world through her performances in local shows, playing with local teams, and her short stint on the popular Singapore TV series “Laguna Beach”. Yang Lina is an accomplished actress, known for her work in action movies, musicals, and even on stage.
