Early Life The youngest of three children, Koh Chieng Mun grew up at Outram Park. She was born in 1917 and was one of seven children born to Zia Idris, a merchant from Singapore. She was the middle child of six children. Her father was a well to do man who employed many other people to help make his business grow.
She graduated from Raffles College in Bukit Timah, where she earned a degree in journalism. Later she joined a local theatre company and later worked on stage in various shows. After retiring she decided to take up acting and so began her early life in theatre. After getting married she had four children. She later decided to pursue her acting career full time and so travelled to Hong Kong and London to hone her skills before she returned to Singapore and joined a number of plays and films in the later years.

Family Koh Chieng Mun had four children; they are: Anya, Brian, John and Kay. She also had four siblings, all of whom she had while growing up in Outram Park. She married a man from a wealthy family and was soon pregnant with her first child. This was followed by the birth of her last child, a daughter named Lim Chi whom she loved.
Career Koh Chieng Mun’s early life was therefore spent mainly in the public and commercial sectors of the world. She went to college in the evening to study English literature and went on to work for the Singapore Metropark Theatre Company as a stagehand. She later became a member of the Singapore Children’s Theatre Company. She then decided to become an actress and after some time she was already known for her popular roles such as Mommy’s Little Boy in Disney’s Winnie the Pooh series and The Pirate’s daughter in Blockbuster.
She has gone on to have different roles in movies such as Mermaids and Zoolander, before she decided to try her hand at being a singer. She sang for both the Singapore musical group The Nightingalees andorne and theewater. She has also tried her hand at doing stand up comedy and singing live performances. In fact, her first performance in a feature film was in the very popular Kung Mangai Kwon Doo movie of 1992.
She has gone on to have more varied and interesting roles in TV shows, movies and plays. Her most recent roles have been in the TV drama Romance Seven and the movie Crazy Rich Asians. While on the small screen, she has also shown her ability to play various characters on the big screen. She has also been a regular cast member of the popular television sitcom Father’s Day. Koh Chieng Mun finally earned international stardom after her stint in the Chinese sitcom, Everyday Secrets. Now, it seems as if she is perfect for whatever role that the world wants her to be for.
