The comedy part of the film consists mainly of Apna bailing out of a prison truck and going on a wild chase, ramming a number of cars, forcing the guards outside the truck, fighting other criminals, and stealing the truck and trailer of a motorcycle. As the chase goes on P.S. realizes that he has feelings for Sushmita and gets arrested along with the other criminals. As the film progresses we come to know more of the personalities of both P.S. and Sushmita. The dialogues in the film are witty and light hearted, the characters beautifully illustrated and brought to life on screen.

Kalpana Iyer is amongst the first of many great comedy films directed by Jhumpra Maran, who went on to direct a number of classy films including Baahubali.
