Chippy’s daughter Dinnan went to school and studied English, while Chavya is a keen fisherman and spends much time in a nearby resort town catching fish on a rod. Chippy’s other big break in her personal life came when she was nominated for the first Indian Female Film award at the 65th Annual Cannes Film Festival. Chippy was present at the awards ceremony along with other female actresses of the Malayalam industry including actresses Sharukh, Priyadarshan Soman Nair and Sankritna. Chippy later went on to win the same first prize again at the next Cannes Film Festival. Her presence at this festival was significant as it represented the first time that a female actor from the Malayalam industry was seen in Cannes; Chippy’s presence at the film festival represented a great deal to the film industry in India as it was a signal that big films were beginning to come out of the country.

Chippy’s personal life was also significant. She married Mani Sankrit in 1957. He was a prominent leader in the Malayalam weekly Daa-Ad newspaper. Chippy and Sankrit’s marriage are perhaps best reflected in Chippy’s book “Kerala’s Most Married Woman” in which she refers to their thirty-year union as the longest in the annals of Kerala. Chippy was also known to be an astute business woman, and her association with both the Indian Institute of Technology and the Indian Business Corporation helped her to attain a high degree in engineering, and pursue a successful career in international business.
