After high school, Anne moved to New York City to work in theater, performing in plays and musicals. In 1923, she appeared in the play “Amores Perros”, which was based on the life of Spanish Queen Isabella. It was a critical and popular hit, and Anne’s role made her one of the first African American actresses to be featured in a play. She later appeared in films such as “Million Dollar Baby” and “A Woman’s Confidence”, which earned her some additional film acting awards. In addition to her film work, Anne continued to receive notice as a model and singer. She gained recognition with appearances on stage and television, including her long-running stint on Broadway.
As she began to age, Anne began to develop pains and concerns about her appearance, which contributed to her decreasing January net worth. For instance, in 1923, her acting awards and resumes increased after her Broadway experience, but she began to decrease her sense of self-worth, as she was no longer interested in pursuing an acting career. Consequently, she began to focus on developing her sewing skills. Despite her declining physical appearance, Anne Jeffreys retained her youthful looks, as seen in her many magazine covers and movies.
The decline in Anne Jeffreys net worth is due to the fact that over the years her health deteriorated. She contracted tuberculosis and later developed lung cancer. Unfortunately, her health declined even further when she was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1924. Due to her weakened immune system and failing health, a lung transplant was not possible, and Anne Jeffreys passed away in January of 1924 at the age of twenty-three.
Based on historical accounts, Anne Jeffreys was married twice before she died. Her first husband was a New York City police officer. Her second husband was a steel worker. The third husband was a carpenter. As previously mentioned, her acting awards and resumes did not contribute to her decreasing finances.
