Auritra was married to Shimitra, a film director who died in a plane crash. Their marriage ended in divorce. Shortly after their split, she began a two-year romance with Sanjay Leela Bhansali who played an important role in her life. They were married in Bombay in 1977. In her last movie ‘Mansana’, aurora was given a major role as a love breaker which earned her the notice of Bollywood’s Aptu Gilas as well as Indira Gandhi.

After this film, Auritra had two more popular acting roles in her films “Chak De! India “and” Chak De! India II” where she again displayed her acting talents.

However, after a while, she lost interest in acting and began to focus on building her career as an artist first and foremost.
