Vinaya Prasad Biography is the biographical book about the popular actress and personality known as Vinaya Prasad. She is a prominent personality of the Indian theater. She was born in 1913 in the state of Orissa in India. Following her marriage to an Englishman, she shifted base to Sri Lanka.
Vinaya Prasad began her illustrious career in cinema after her marriage to Harry Kimball in 1928. However, it was her performance in the Hindi film Dhananandari (The Dog That Was Left Behind) which captured the imagination of the public in India and became the first ever award winning movie in the country. After that, she moved on to starring in many movies in Rajkumar Kohli’s comedy Dosa La!, an all time favorite of Hindi cinema. But it was her role in the legendary Malayalam movie ‘Kissi’ that defined her career. She was a complete unknown to the viewers in India when the film came out. However, by the time the first half of the 20th century rolled in, all the Indian audience and the critics saw her acting skills and realized her as one of the finest actresses to come from south India. She was a very popular choice among the Telugu, Kannada and Kodambakkam film makers for their finest female characters.
There is a long and interesting story behind Vinaya Prasad’s popularity in the Telugu film industry. First of all, her role in the first of the three Malayalam films ‘Nanban’, which was released in 1957, established her name firmly in the industry. It also helped her get some good work in various other movies in the years to come. She even got to act alongside some very popular names in the Telugu film industry including Kamal Amrohi and AP Jee.
The most interesting part of Vinaya Prasad Biography is her association with Udupi, Karnataka state, India. She spent the bulk of her life in Udupi, Karnataka, where she lived with her parents and younger siblings. She shared the household duties with her younger sister, Nandini, who took care of the family’s domestic chores. Vinaya used to cook and prepare food, wash utensils, cut grass and perform household chores. As she grew older, she started going to school from a young age and graduated from Udupi Senior Secondary School in May 1960.
After completing school, she moved to Cochin, where she joined the Film Foundation. After a short stint there, she shifted bases to Chennai to pursue her acting career, which she enjoyed in both indoor and outdoor scenes. The first person to recognize Vinaya Prasad was her ex-boyfriend J.S. Ramachandran, who introduced her to Udupi and told her about her Zodiac sign, which she then revealed to her parents.
