Krishnamurthy was married at times to English women whose husbands were from different parts of England. The reasons for their marriage were never disclosed but it is believed that they were either supporters of the RSS or affiliates of the All India Youth Federation. She accepted a commission from the Indian government in return for commissions that were given to RSS leader Subhas Chandra Bose and his organization. This may have influenced her decision to write this book.
As a prolific writer, Krishnamurthy has produced volumes based on almost every aspect of her life. Some of them have very interesting and relevant contents while others are more like a personal diary or a kind of a diary focused on her art. In Suchitra Krishna, there are detailed discussions of various events that took place during her childhood and early adolescence including her association with the RSS and Bose.
The stories tell how her unconventional behavior that at times made others in her social circle apprehensive often ended up getting her into trouble. Such story lines are told with relish as she depicts her personality traits in these stories. The biographer also tells how she used to get into mischief even at a young age and how her exemplary behavior was ignored by those around her. It is interesting to know how her unorthodoxy impacted the lives of those around her in a positive way.
Suchitra Krishnamurthy also shares some of her greatest artistic moments in such a charming manner. This is the first biographical book that depicts her art. The writer’s vivid descriptions of her paintings and sculptures are truly mesmerizing. The photographs are also very colorful and beautifully done. The story’s events are portrayed with such warmth and passion that one feels that they are narrating true events.
