Peggy’s full name was Pamela C. Cherry Creams. Her mother, born as Peggie C., was a maid. Her father, born as Samuel H. Pepper, was a prosperous printer. According to some accounts, he was a wealthy Boston Brahmin who once served as a spy for the British army during the American Revolution. After the war he opened his own printing business and, after making a deal with a Chinese rice trader to bring back Chinese laborers who had escaped to America, he changed his name to Peggy Cass. It is possible that her full name was Peggie C., but she was known by just her nickname, Peggy.

Peggy’s official movie bio (according to the Internet Movie Database website) notes that she was an actor who appeared in four films: “Dogs,” “Pitch Black,” “The Secret,” and “A Christmas Story.” She died in a car accident on September 7, 1975. The accident occurred at approximately seven miles from Boston, where she was filming “Dogs.” According to the Internet Movie Database, the death of this well-known actress came just a day after actress Karen Carpenter died in a car crash near San Francisco.

According to several biographies, she began to appear on a game show panel shows in her early twenties, and her popularity soared when her film resume began to include credits for such diverse projects as “Dogs” (in which she played the game show host), “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County,” “A Christmas Story” and “leyster High School Musical.” She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1924, for “Dogs.” As her career progressed, she appeared in such films as “How I Live Now” and “Laguna Beach.” She was also nominated for an Academy Award for “A Christmas Story” for her work as the game show hostess.

In addition to her filmography, she was also known for her numerous appearances on such television quiz shows as “I Spy” and “The Price is Right.” These final episodes of her television shows earned her another Omega Award from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Her final appearance on one of these quiz shows, “I Spy,” earned her a second Omega Award, this time for her performance as Peppermint Patty. Peggy Cass was born in New York City and grew up in San Francisco, California.
