Nora Samosir is a name that strikes you immediately if you are an American interested in learning about the life of an actress in Singapore. Or an Asian interested in studying her roots and her influence on the people there. The life of Nora Samosir, known as Nora Sharadindu in her Singaporean movies, is quite remarkable. She was born in Jakarta, Indonesia. She was just a baby when World War II end.

She was just a child when World War II ended. At such young age, she gained international prominence for her performance as an Indonesian girl in a British film called “North Remembers”. However, she soon became a famous actress in Singapore, especially for her leading role in “Singapore: Through the Looking Glass” which was released in 1960. She went on to make notable appearances in “Rebecca Loaded”, “My Fair Lady”, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, “Dr. Wu” and “Babette’s Secretaries”.
