She is best known for her performances as a character actress in the films comedies Big Daddy, Beverly Hills 92, Bridget Jones Diary, Home Alone and Chicago. In the latter role of Bridget Jones Diary she plays the character of Alex Cross. Her other films include Dark Sky, Swing Vote, Confidentiality, Air Traffic controller, The Pursuit of Happyness, Girlfriend’s, A Few Good Men, The Perfect Score, Take Me Home, Baby Mama, Welcome House, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and The Pursuit of Happyness. Among her many awards including Golden Globe Awards, Screenplay Oscars, Satellite Awards, and other honors she has received she is best known for her starring role in the critically acclaimed film Big Daddy.

Leslie Grossman’s father was an alcoholic who died when Leslie was four years old. According to her bio from the American Film Institute she always felt she had an unusual connection to alcohol. She has said that her alcoholic father would drink alone in the presence of his mistress, which would lead her to have a very difficult time growing up. It was rumored that her alcoholic father was not able to live a normal life without having alcohol and would go on drinking until he died. This played a large role in her being such a strong person and wanting to pursue an acting career even though it was far from her heart.
Leslie Grossman was born in Los Angeles, California on January first, 1971. She is the daughter of Lesly Grossman and Idaella Ginsberg. The two were married in nineteen seventy and have three children. Leslie has said that her father often came home from work “drinking himself sick” and was very unhappy in his job.
Leslie first appeared in films at the age of twenty-one, playing the role of extras in Beach Blanket Bingo, which was later made into the award winning movie Macezvous with Mr. Jones. Then she went onto play the part of a schoolteacher’s aide in Grease, then the title role in Rebel Without a Cause and finally the role of Ann in the Coenzyme Q film. All of these roles were successful, but she did not receive any acting awards for them. After her marriage to Larry Gelblum in 1974 she appeared in a series of movies including A Christmas Story and Chicago.
After being active in her community as a teacher, Leslie decided to pursue her acting career full time. She was thirty years old when she directed her first feature in What Happens in Vegas, which was made by her husband. After that she continued to direct several movies, many of which were made in Hollywood. Leslie Grossman made her feature debut in the film adaptation of the novel Who Goes There. After that she continued to direct and act in several films throughout the seventies, eighties, and nineties.
