Besides her musical Theatre experience, Kristin Chenoweth has also had considerable success on television. She played the role of Dr. David Stutler on the long running soap, Doctors. Additionally, she appeared on Broadway as the title role in the play, Anastasia Malabarite. Both of these shows earned her the same number of awards as the Tonys for Best Actress in a Musical and Best Actress in a Non-Musical Drama categories for the 2021 Satellite Awards. Additionally, she was a contestant on the second season of America’s Got Talent.
Another of Kristin Chenoweth’s award winning films is Anastasia, which was made as part of the London Film Festival of 2021. This film was directed by Guy Ritchie and was made for the screen by none other than Peter Tolkin. As is typical with an award-winning film, Anastasia was considered to be a box office smash when it came out. The film itself was focused on the story of a young girl who was found dead after falling from a high building. The film was also well received due to the performances of both Peter Tolkin and Kristin Chenoweth.
Kristin Chenoweth may not have won the hearts of everyone with her Broadway or TV appearances, but she has certainly made a name for herself in the world of cinema. Her two films that she has been involved in have consistently received rave reviews from critics and movie goers alike. Her first major role was in the musical play, Noises Off, as the adult Sarah Jessica Parker. She then appeared in the much hyped, much talked about film adaptation of the play, The Princess of York. In the latter movie, she played the lead role opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, where she played the young, loveable Daisy. No one can forget the smile that was seen on Kristin Chenoweth’s face while wearing that adorable heart shaped tiara in the movie, The Princess of York.
One of the most interesting films to come out of the 2021 Broadway season is Edward Scissorhands, which was co-written by the ever popular playwright, Lin-Manuel Miranda. The movie itself was quite fun to watch as it follow the plot of the book. However, what impressed many people with this film was the role that Kristin Chenoweth ultimately played. She plays the role of the woman who desperately wants to break free from her abusive relationship only to find out that the men responsible for her trauma are those that she loves. For anyone who never had the opportunity to see this play, it is definitely a must see.
