Jolene Blalock had a very interesting childhood. Her parents divorced when she was very young, and she did not see her father much. As a result, Blalock formed an extreme dislike of her father, which may account for her frequent criticism of him on the set of Mystic River. Eventually, Blalock became best friends with Michael Douglas, who was very protective of her during their time together, especially when it came to their children. At some point, Blalock moved in with Michael and their two children, daughter Arielle, and son Damon. It was at this time that Jolene Blalock began to work under the title of “Tina Majorino” in films that were made with Michael Douglas as the lead character.

After completing Seabiscuit, Jolene Blalock went to Hollywood to star in an early release of The Perfect Team, a series of romantic comedy-thriller films that featured both her fellow actress partner Brad Pitt. Among these films, Jolene Blalock’s performance in the crime thriller Dark Blue was particularly memorable and led to the actor being included in the Best Supporting Actress list for the Academy Awards. At the time, Blalock had only had a few films in her repertoire, and her association with Soderbergh had begun to strengthen, with the two working on some of their best films together. This partnership would prove to be crucial to Jolene Blalock’s development as a strong performer, and would also give her the opportunity to hone her talents as a writer. The next decade would see some of the greatest advancements in her career, which would see her move into other areas of filmmaking, such as producing and directing.
