Joan Allen is an American stage and screenwriter. She rose to fame as one of the first female Broadway cast members in a revival of Cats, later doing several movies and commercials. Joan Allen was born in Brooklyn, New York, the youngest of five children of middle-class parents who were somewhat disappointed with their lack of financial success.
