Jane Adams is an American playwright. She has also worked as a script doctor for many movies and TV shows, most notably as a consultant to the casting department of Disney Feature Animation “The Lion King”. Jane Adams first gained notice as an actress when she appeared in the Woody Allen movie “Cabaret” in 1970. She went on to have notable roles in such movies as Something Happens in New York, High School Confidential, Ordinary Girls, Pretty Woman, Edward Scissorhands and You Don’t Mess with the Zohan.

Jane Adams was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is a mother of two children, Christopher and Jennifer. Her first professional acting break was playing a waitress in a television commercial. Following this, she appeared in several plays, most notably appearing in Something Happens in New York, which was more of a comedy than a drama.

Jane Adams biography was revealed in the book “You Can’t Take It With You”, by Julia Cameron. The biographer interviewed over seventy actors, directors and producers. Jane Adams had two children, Christopher and Jennifer. She is married to former comedian Don Murphy. Her full name is Jane Adams Roberts. This is not her full name, however.

Jane Adams was known for her long-lasting love of cats. When asked what her favorite animal was, she said, “A cat. All my cats are dead now.” She told the biographer that she always felt a bond with all cats, and especially the black ones. Her cats were so important to her that in one scene in the play she nearly fainted as she saw her son brutally murdered by a mugger.

Jane Adams was married three times. Her first marriage was to Richard Dysband, whom she had met in radio while he was performing. They got divorced when she became engaged to John Douglas Collier. The third marriage was to Arthur Hills, who had worked with Jane on many occasions.

Jane Adams had numerous hits throughout her lifetime, including “Famous Last Moments” and “Hollywood Nights”. She died of a bullet in an airport in Los Angeles, California, on July 7, 1977. Her grave has since been relocated to New Hampshire. Her epitaph was engraved on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her funeral service was held in the funeral home, and flowers were offered to all of her numerous fans.

Jane Adams was a famous writer, but not primarily because she wrote the majority of her stories. Her writings were centered on screenplays. She co-authored several books of screenplays, including “The Addam’s Family” and “Gaslight”.

Jane Adams is most remembered for “Ladies of Leisure”, a series of novels which she co-authored with her daughter, Patty Deren. Her daughter also acted as one of the main characters in this play. As you can see, Jane Adams had a great deal to offer to the world. Her contributions to our culture cannot be measured by numbers alone, but will always be remembered fondly by those who knew and loved her.
