She was also one of the few Indian actresses to appear in two movies that have made history, Bhumika in Magadheera and Kiara in Mahabaleshwar.
Gayatri also tried her hands at writing a biography of her life but never completed it. However, she continued to work towards promoting women writers and fought for the rights of women in the film industry. She was instrumental in changing the mind of India’s film council when she insisted on a female player being given a prominent role in a film. The movie in which she was featured was Madhumati. After completing her memoirs, Gayatri returned to her home country and passed away in peacefully, at the age of 33.
