Her career on television began in the late ’70s, when she was a series regular as the spunky Texas girl who kept her boyfriend secret (until the end of the show). Her acting career spanned four seasons on the short-lived NBC show billed as E.T. She also had small roles in several movies including Rebel Without a Cause and The Perfect Score. Later in her career, Brennan was known for playing the lesbian nurse in Love Boat.
Eileen Brennan was married to Richard Glossip in the late nineteen seventies. They had two children, David and Susan. She later divorced him, and in the late eighties, Glossip became a suspect in the murder of his stepson, Mikey. After six weeks on the run, Brennan was captured by the Los Angeles Police Department and was tried and convicted for the murder of her former husband.
During the trial, Brennan maintained her innocence, saying that she had never been with her former husband’s friend David John Lampson in any way since they were together. Glossip, on the other hand, said that Brennan had been seeing him since September of that year. It was then that the actress made an important discovery; she discovered that Glossip had been framed after his murder. According to the star witness, David John Lampson, Eileen Brennan gave detectives the identity of her client’s murderer during a break in their case. He said that the information came from Brennan’s late husband, Richard Glossip. Richard Glossip, Eileen Brennan’s former husband, was found guilty of the crime and is currently serving a life sentence in state prison.
Eileen Brennan’s trial also produced another important piece of information about the crime. It showed that although Richard Glossip’s attorney told the jury that there was a possibility that his client committed the crime because of money issues, Eileen Brennan’s defense attorney, Anthony Baca, claimed otherwise. Baca claimed that the evidence showed that the killing was not done for monetary reasons. However, Baca failed to provide any evidence that would contradict Eileen Brennan’s claim.
