Athiya Shetty was born in 1954 in Mangalore, Karnataka. She has been called the “Indian Vogue”, as she has appeared in a number of movies that have won several Filmfare Awards. Athiya Shetty first gained notice in Hollywood when her performance in Hindi movie Jodha Akbar’s Ashok (aka India’s first film starring Aishwarya Rai), launched her career in Hollywood. Her other major roles are in Man vs. Monster, Brides and other films that have won her various Film Farewell awards.

Athiya Shetty was brought to Mumbai by her father when she was very young. She had been told that her father worked in a film production office, so she would stay with his family while she went to school. She had joined the drama department of a film college in Delhi and after a short while going on to be one of the best known faces in that field, thanks to the success of Jodha Akbar. However, it was not till she was 18 years old that she started to appear in Bollywood movies, and by the time she reached that age, she was already famous. She has been given her name Shetyy – which means a star – by her co-actor Aishwarya Rai in one of her first films.

The marriage did not endear them to their children, but it did make them aware of the different aspects of motherhood, and the responsibility that comes with it. When asked about her personal life, Athiya Shetty reveals that she likes her children to be involved in everything – but does not wish for anything to overshadow them.
