Ann has always maintained that the reason why she was widowed in the first place was so she could raise her daughter and not have to spend half of her life away from the family. Ann was in fact widowed for the first time at the age of 48 years old, when her husband suddenly died in an accident on the railway line.

Ann’s eldest daughter was born in the same year as her husband and the two were inseparable during their early years together. Ann worked hard to support the family including her sister who became a maid and her youngest daughter who became a singer. Ann knew the secret to staying beautiful and young even as she aged, but she never revealed it to the public until a Channel 7 broadcast of a program called “The Genderologist” in the early January 1973 where she was interviewed by reporter Richard Turner. Ann Kok then disclosed that the reason why she was not revealing any of her past achievements to the public was the fear that some viewers would doubt her beauty after all she had been through.

Ann Kok was born to a poor Chinese family in inexpensive flat in North Singapore, the oldest of three siblings. Ann was known to be shy and reclusive as a child, but was more outgoing and happy as a teenager. She developed her talent for singing at a very early age and was signed to a singing agency when she was just 17 years old. Her first big break came in the form of appearances on television as one of the popular singers of that era. She later went on to have several popular albums and singles including “Mystic Style” and “My Way”.

Ann Kok began a successful acting career in films and television shows in the decades that followed. She also had numerous roles in live theatre. Ann Kok is currently one of the most well known Asian actresses in the world today and has gone on to receive numerous awards for her various roles. She has also spent several years performing dance and other types of performing arts and is currently enjoying a four film release from her latest film “Singapore Girl” that is due out later this year.
