Sally Field is an American stage and screenwriter who has written for such diverse TV shows as M.A.S.H., Groundhog Day, Doonesbury, ER, Housefull and The Dead Zone. Early life. Sally Field was actually born to Richard Dryden Field, a US Army officer and Margaret Field, a comedienne in Pasadena, California. Many of the audience members who stood for Sally Field’s acceptance speech also left the event angry and disappointed that she failed to bring home the trophy that year. Some of these individuals felt that the award show hosts, Jimmy Fallon and Oprah Winfrey, did not sufficiently recognize Sally Field’s contributions to the entertainment world.

Sally Field’s career has spanned parts of two decades. Prior to working on the Broadway stage, she also had a lengthy stint on the television screen, playing the role of FBI agent Dana Scully in the TV series X Files. Critic’s circle award for best actress goes to Rescue Me, which was written by Paul Strong. In the movie, Field plays a young girl who is chosen as an FBI agent to go on a dangerous mission under the orders of FBI Director Robert Kennedy. This role earned Sally Field a second Golden Globe nomination, this time for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
