Based upon the book by David Gardners, the movie adaptation of the original work had been released in June of 2021. The film adaptation features George Clooney as the lead character, while Joanna Cassidy played the daughter of a wealthy family who had recently lost her husband to a hit-man. In the novel, the crime that resulted in the death of the husband occurred in a country called Augustia. The film version takes place in New York City. In the book, there is also a young woman named Stephanie Dolan who falls in love with Cassidy and they eventually marry.
The plot of the film begins after Cassidy’s ex-lover, named Pedro (Ben Kingsley), attempts to hire a hit man to kill her. However, he instead hires his associate, pinsmith namedpinsmith Johnny Caskey (Pedro) to do the job instead. As the two men begin to plan the murder, Cassidy tries to convince her friend, Lucille (Bebe Neuwirth), not to get involved in the death. However, she decides to help out the couple as she realizes that the only way for them to stop the crime, is if they get help from a group of “good guys” who happen to be living in Augustia, New York.
After reading the book, I did not see what made it one of the best books for romance and suspense in a TV series. There were several things about Joanna Cassidy’s personality and her story that did not seem right to me. Also, there were several things that I found to be a little confusing about the whole story line. Nevertheless, I still thought the book was excellent and had a great ending. Below are some of my top three favorite scenes from the television show:
The series ended with Joanna and Cassidy’s relationship building on an emotional level, even though they were still in the early stages of getting to know one another. The two shared several touching moments throughout their relationship and this turned into the series’ theme, which is social media and how it affects your life. Also, there were quite a few twists in the book series that made the book even better than it already was.
