Tatyana Ali is an American pop singer and actress best known for her prominent role as Ashley Banks in the NBC series The Fresh Prince of Bel-air in 1990 to 1996. She went on to have a number of hit songs including “Blue Friday” with dancer-dancer Idina Menzel and “Happily Ever After” with singer-actor Britney Spears. She is best known for her hair, makeup and nails. Though fans of the show would disagree, many will agree that this change was a positive change for the character.

A role as a fresh prince, though it may have appeared to the audience as simply an extension of the previous role of Will Bailey, allowed Ali to establish a unique and interesting persona on her own. After leaving Californians, a role on another popular television series would help her build upon her impressive acting career and would solidify her reputation as one of the best actresses out there today. In turn, this solidified her place in Hollywood. This lead to other prominent roles, such as those on Bette Midler’s Gossip Girl, and Amy Grant’s Mom. The latter two roles Ali has played made her well-known and have enabled her to build a name for herself in the acting business.

For those who are unfamiliar with Ali’s career, she began playing the role of Janie in their Affinity Show and went on to play the role of Jasmine in the hit animated film Finding Nemo, before landing a role in the groundbreaking biopic of chronicler Oralegitis. After the first film, everyone knew who Tatyana Ali was, and everyone wanted to see what happened to her after the role of Jasmine. The subsequent four films in which she has been involved have all been box-office successes, proving that age is no barrier to success when it comes to playing the role of a true Hollywood actresses.
