Mahua Roychoudhury is an Indian actor who has been known for her multiple roles in Bengali films. She is known for her indelible role of Julli in Apne for which she was nominated for an Academy Award. She went on to play the same role in Baahubali: The Movie and Apne Again. She has since then gone on to star in different genres of movies in India and England.

Mahua Roychoudhury was born in Pitampura, an infant town in the Eastern Indian state of Bengal. She began her illustrious career in Bengali films by appearing in the critically acclaimed Baahubali: The Movie. She did not however win any national film awards for this role. But, the film managed to rack up some good international box office. Other notable appearances in Bengali films include Kismet Konnection (1994), Aabara (1995), Baahubali: The Hindu’s Men (1996), Seeds of Life (2021), Mankatha (2021), etc.

Her first major role in a Hindi film was “Daughter”, in 1986. She then went on to star in the equally successful “Love, Marriage and Children” the next year. Her acting skills were further highlighted in the action-filled “Brides” and “Revenge of Machines” which she starred in. She also had some small roles in “Singh In” and “Iruvar” before landing a major role in the hit comedy “Mankatha”.

There must have been moments in Mahua Roychoudhury’s life that she considered a failure. However, she always remained optimistic and always looked at the brighter side of things, even while being married to a renowned Bengali writer. She managed to maintain a strong career and managed to play a string of important and popular characters till the end of her acting career.
